Five more journalists slaughtered in Gaza... Crime Surge in D.C.? Only Inside the White House.
Reports confirm that five Al Jazeera journalists—including prominent correspondent Anas al-Sharif—were killed in a targeted Israeli airstrike on a media tent outside al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.
In total, seven people were killed in the attack, including Al Jazeera correspondent Mohammed Qreiqeh, 33, and camera operators Ibrahim Zaher, 25; Mohammed Noufal, 29; and Moamen Aliwa, 23.
The tent was set up for journalists covering the humanitarian crisis and ongoing bombardment in Gaza. The Israeli military claimed al-Sharif was a Hamas operative “posing as a journalist,” but provided no evidence. Al Jazeera and press freedom advocates strongly condemned the attack as a deliberate assassination of journalists.

President Trump on Monday announced he was taking federal control of the Washington, D.C., police department and deploying the National Guard in the nation’s capital in an effort to crack down on crime.
He deployed 450 federal officers to patrol Washington, D.C., last night after saying that he’d discuss plans to evict homeless people and jail criminals this morning. The city’s mayor has refuted his claims that crime is rising. [USA Today/AP]
Crime in D.C. was down 35 percent in 2024 from the previous year, marking a 30-year low. Data from the district shows violent crime is also down so far in 2025 compared with last year. Trump turned his attention to the city when a former member of DOGE was attacked during a carjacking in the city earlier this month.
“Our capital city has been overtaken by violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals, roving mobs of wild youth, drugged out maniacs and homeless people, and we’re not going ot let it happen anymore. We’re not going to take it,” Trump said. — The Hill
