Trump booed at World Cup... The Democratic Party is in dire need of a mutiny.
Spain lifted the World Cup trophy in New Jersey, a night of national pride broadcast to hundreds of millions. And almost immediately afterward, P.M. Pedro Sánchez delivered a line that shifted all eyes back from the pitch to a world in crisis.
“Spain has no nuclear bombs or aircraft carriers… but there are causes worth fighting for, even if we cannot win them alone.”
That wasn’t about soccer. It was about Israel, whose leaders continue to threaten Spain’s autonomy. While the world celebrates Spain’s victory, Netanyahu has been lobbing rhetorical threats accusing Spain of “hostility,” promising “consequences,” and trying to make Madrid the example for any European government that dares criticize Israel’s Gaza or Iran policy.
But here’s the part Sánchez understands, and says out loud: Israel has no real leverage over Spain. Not economically. Not politically. Not militarily. Spain just won the biggest sporting event on earth. And its prime minister is signaling something else: Spain won’t be bullied. Spain won’t be quiet. Spain won’t pretend Israel’s bluster is anything more than bluster.

World’s most hated man, booed loudly at FIFA
President Trump was loudly booed as he entered the field after Spain’s win. After the match, he tried to shake off FIFA President Gianni Infantino as he lingered onstage. Infantino tried to usher Trump further from the team as they celebrated, putting the FIFA head and the president directly in the path of the fluttering confetti. Trump remained next to the team until the team photo was taken. But the team had him edited out of the final shot.
