The Nobel Absurdity: Trump and Daniella Weiss as Peace Prize Nominees?

In a gesture of support, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, who currently stands accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity, presented Trump with a copy of a letter he claimed to have sent to the Nobel Prize committee. “It’s nominating you for the Peace Prize, which is well-deserved. And you should get it,” Netanyahu said.
“Wow,” Trump responded, holding the paper Netanyahu presented him. “Coming from you, in particular, this is very meaningful. Thank you very much, Bibi.”
In a year defined by mass deportations, military occupations, and genocide, the Nobel Peace Prize committee has apparently decided to lean into the chaos. Among the nominees for 2025: Donald Trump, whose dream is to turn ethnically cleansed Palestine into the “Riviera of the Middle East” —and Daniella Weiss, the Israeli settler leader who openly advocates the slaughter of thousands of Arab children.
Yes, you read that right. The man who greenlit the missile attack on Iran and who just announced another shipment of weapons into the Ukraine killing fields, and the woman who calls Palestinian children “children of the enemy,” are now being floated as global peacemakers.
Trump’s nomination comes courtesy of European conservatives who claim his “restraint” in not nuking Iran shows “maturity.”

Daniella Weiss, former mayor of the illegal West Bank settlement Kedumim, was nominated by Israeli academics who claim her work “prevented violence.” This is the same Weiss who calls for the expulsion of all Palestinians from Gaza.
The Nobel Peace Prize was established to honor individuals who promote peace through diplomacy, disarmament, and international cooperation, in line with Alfred Nobel’s desire to promote peace.
While Trump and Weiss are celebrated, the people they target, immigrants, Palestinians, and anti-war protesters, are silenced, surveilled, jailed, and deported. And the institutions meant to hold power accountable? They’re handing out trophies.
Peace, apparently, is just a five-letter word, a euphemism for strategic demolition.
