So many dead. So many cities destroyed in the Ukraine proxy war that both sides are now running out of missiles and artillery shells. There’s no need to remind ourselves that both sides’ missiles, minus a few strays, are landing in Ukraine, not in the US or Russia.

The Guardian reports that Russia is firing aging cruise missiles because their stocks are so depleted. CNN reports that the US is also running low on some weapons and ammunition to transfer to Ukraine.

The strain on weapons stockpiles – and the ability of the US industrial base to keep up with demand – is one of the key challenges facing the Biden administration as the US continues to send billions of dollars of weapons to Ukraine to support its fight against Russia.

For the Ukrainians, the fact that they are being targeted with obsolete missiles brings no satisfaction. The months ahead still look miserable for millions facing the coming winter with food and energy shortages. But they look great for the war profiteers and weapons makers who are supplying both sides while the war contributes to rising inflation and dangerous economic instability and austerity in Russia and Europe.

There has never been a more urgent need for ceasefire and peace talks to begin leading to an end to this slaughter.

And then there's the question of : In whose hands those weapons are ending up?

The Pentagon is considering a Boeing proposal to supply Ukraine with cheap, small precision bombs fitted onto abundantly available rockets, allowing Kyiv to strike far behind Russian lines as the West struggles to meet the demand for more arms. #BuckleUp
