Thank you Stella Assange for having the courage to enter @PiersUncensored den of iniquity and tell war criminal John Bolton to his face, that he should be tried in the Hague.
Leave it to one of my fave Substack bloggers, Caitlin Johnstone, to come up with the best line of the day:
Stella Assange just delivered a beatdown on one of her husband's persecutors that was so scorched-earth demolishing I feel like I need a cigarette after watching it.
Remember it was Bolton, who helped fabricate evidence about WMDs in Iraq, one of history’s greatest bullshit stories that was used as justification for the US invasion and occupation and cause a million deaths. And he is one of the few architects of that war who still insist it was justified and has no regrets, not even about the use of torture in interrogations. Bolton, back in 2018, while working for Trump, threatened to punish members of the International Criminal Court (ICC) if they went ahead with an investigation of war crimes (including his) in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Palestine.
Morgan probably thought he was being “balanced” by bringing this fascist criminal on his show to counter Stella Assange. That would be like bringing in a KKK leader to add balance to an interview with Dr. King back in the ‘60s. It’s not the intent of the equal-time rules governing media.
Stella’s journalist husband Julian, is the Australian editor, publisher, and activist who founded WikiLeaks in 2006. He has been indicted on 17 espionage charges in the US stemming from WikiLeaks’ publication of thousands of military and diplomatic documents leaked by whistleblower Chelsea Manning that exposed the illegal and criminal invasion of that country. He remains in London’s Belmarsh prison, where he has been incarcerated since April 2019.
The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) is one of the many groups supporting the global mobilization efforts on October 8 to oppose Julian’s extradition to the US, saying the move will have a chilling effect on journalists.
On Saturday, several mobilization rallies and events – including a human chain that will surround the UK Parliament at 1 pm and a rally at the Department of Justice in Washington DC – have been planned to oppose Assange’s extradition and demand that charges against him are dropped.
Balance?
Morgan’s use of Bolton as “balance” is no different than ongoing attempts by the Democratic Party leadership to placate the MAGA right.
I was grinding my teeth watching the Bidens posing hand-in-hand with MAGA Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and his wife Casey, who no doubt will use the session to show the cult base how he and Sen. Marco Rubio conned the president out of billions in federal hurricane relief while opposing government relief programs for everyone else.
Of course, there should be plenty of hurricane relief for Florida and other hard-hit states and countries (including Cuba). If we’re running short, take it out of the swollen Pentagon budget. But there’s no need to nuzzle DeSantis in the process.
DeSantis claims that the “national regime media” was cheering on Hurricane Ian. I’m sure he’s right. They probably even sent their own cheer squad down to Tampa to give Ian a boost. In fact, I actually saw some of them out on the Gulfcoast, armed with pom-poms, and led by CNN anchor Jim Acosta, chanting, “Gimme an H…Gimme a U….
a smug thug and feeble-minded monster is bolton.
