Does Dr. Reverend William Barber II think that stepping down and resigning before the end of the term and stepping down as candidate for reelection mean the same thing in terms of line of succession?
Rev. Barber is a brilliant man and a great leader of the Poor Peoples Campaign. I'm sure he knows the difference between the two. Sometimes our rhetoric gets disconnected from meaning. I just felt a need to remind all of us the difference between the two "stepping downs" in case we forget.
Why should Biden cancel his meeting with Netanyahu? If those two don't belong together, who does? No. That might in some way would obscure the fact that there's not dimes worth of difference between the two of them. And there's nothing Biden can ever do to redeem himself, even if he thought he had done anything wrong, which he most assuredly does not and never will.
This is not about Biden's redemption. It's about making demands on our elected officials. Pressure building on Congress to boycott BN's speech and hold back weapons and $$ for genocide. Harris and 100 others now say they won't attend. As Frederick Douglass put it: "Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will."
Nothing effective has been done or is likely be to done stop the slaughter. In fact, in Madison demonstrations accomplished nothing but providing cover for Tammy Baldwin, another depraved Democrat with zero regard for human life. She sent her staff down to talk to demonstrators and they sucked it up. Then she generously set a side ten or twenty minutes of her precious time supporting the Pentagon and more war for a zoom session with a group of the demonstrators. There are no words to convey how totally useless and pathetic this all is.
Yesterday, I received a letter from Mark Pocan: "Selfless, historic, inspirational." You. of course, know who that refers to. And not a word about the-tens-of-thousands of murdered Palestinians. Not on single word. And I should believe these ghouls are capable of anything other than facilitating more death, destruction, chaos and suffering? i may be a high school dropout but don't believe I'm quite that big of a fool.
Whatever movement there is in this country supporting Palestine has failed miserably. And more of the same fruitless tactics will continue to amount to nothing. Power concedes nothing to empty, utterly ineffective demands from powerless people the ruling elite does not concern itself with and simply ignores.
